Rule 1:
Watch the game live if possible.
Rule 2:
If you pause to use the bathroom only, it's only necessary to skip ahead during the commercials to catch up.
Rule 3:
Don't hesitate with the skip ahead button or you might as well not use it.
Rule 4:
Implement the following skips when going for the most time savings.
-1 skip after a ball is put in play and an out is recorded.
-1 skip after a ball is put in play and the batter reaches base. (optional skip if you want to see the replay)
-1 skip after a ball is fouled into the crowd.
-1 skip when the catcher goes out to the mound.
-2 skips when a manager goes out to the mound.
-6 skips after a ball is put in play and the last out of the inning is recorded.
-7 skips when the manager calls for a relief pitcher.
You can watch the game in 40% of the time.
*If you are good with the Ffwd (not skip) you can speed up the time in between pitches to possibly reduce the time to 30%.
*Know the pitchers style, Sheets works fast so careful with the skips. If Johnny Estrada hits a double you can probalby get a skip or two in while he runs.

This skip ahead button is a mystery to me. I will have to investigate if I have this capablity. I normally only use Fast forward (>>), and I have 1x to 8x to slow the process down. My rule of thumb is to normally only skip commercials, mound visits, and pitching changes. I like to keep an eye on what the pitcher is doing between pitches.
I usually pause when I use the bathroom if the game is close or if the Brewers are batting. I did pause for the Philly game that Turnbow lost in the 9th, and since then, I have been hesitent to use the pause at all.
Big fan of yesterday's batting order. JJ had some pitches to hit in the 3 hole, he just did not swing at them. Weeks performed well after the layoff (and with Gwynn Jr right on his tale). Hall also played better in the 7 hole. the only thing I did not like was Jenkins behind Estrada, but I understood why they did it, kinda.
Speaking of Estrada, when you watch him run in either 1x or 2x, he still appears slow.
I would love to have a comment about using DVR, but as an individual living physically in 2007 by technology wise in about 1998, I have not seen this DVR that the two of you talk about.
