Death of CNR

I was saddened this morning to read that one of the most entertaining celebrity game show contestants of all time had passed away on Friday. Charles Nelson Reilly had provided Cheek and myself with numerous hours of entertainment while watching Match Game during our college years on the Game Show network. CNR was such a funny character that Saturday Night Live made a skit about him during the 2000-01 season with Will Ferrell as James Lipton and Alec Baldwin as CR. This skit of "Inside the Actors Studio" provided America with a new word -scrumtrilescent. Today is a somber day when the world is now missing one of the most flamboyant actors America has ever seen.

DVR Rules for watching baseball.

Rule 1:
Watch the game live if possible.

Rule 2:
If you pause to use the bathroom only, it's only necessary to skip ahead during the commercials to catch up.

Rule 3:
Don't hesitate with the skip ahead button or you might as well not use it.

Rule 4:
Implement the following skips when going for the most time savings.
-1 skip after a ball is put in play and an out is recorded.
-1 skip after a ball is put in play and the batter reaches base. (optional skip if you want to see the replay)
-1 skip after a ball is fouled into the crowd.
-1 skip when the catcher goes out to the mound.
-2 skips when a manager goes out to the mound.
-6 skips after a ball is put in play and the last out of the inning is recorded.
-7 skips when the manager calls for a relief pitcher.

You can watch the game in 40% of the time.
*If you are good with the Ffwd (not skip) you can speed up the time in between pitches to possibly reduce the time to 30%.

*Know the pitchers style, Sheets works fast so careful with the skips. If Johnny Estrada hits a double you can probalby get a skip or two in while he runs.

I Know Its Been a While Since I Rapped With You All

Hola Amigos! I know it has been a long time since I rapped with you all, but I have been really busy lately. I thought I would publish my thoughts on various topics over the past few weeks onto the Blog for further discussion.

  • This Tuesday, May 22nd, is the NBA Draft Lottery, in which the Milwaukee Bucks have a 15.6% chance of winning one of the top three picks in the Greg Oden-Kevin Durant-Al Horford-Corey Brewer-Joakim Noah draft. I have a strong feeling that the Bucks will retain the #3 spot in this draft and have a difficult decision to make as to whom to select. Part of me believes it will be Al Horford, but I would really like either Corey Brewer or Mike Conley, Jr. I just hope the team can improve and be better in the 2007-08 campaign.
  • The Brewers are having a fantastic start to the season, but as of late they are having a hard time winning some games against the better teams in baseball. I definitely believe they are going to have their first season over .500 since 1992 this season, but I doubt they will make much of an impact in the MLB playoffs due to there youth and inexperience in playing meaningful games after Labor Day this millennium. Your thoughts?
  • What is the deal with the NFL Rookies having a photo shoot this weekend and the Packers going ahead and having a mini-camp scheduled which also coincides with this event. Then the NFL players association not allowing Brandon Jackson to attend the Packers mini-camp and saying either stay home or go to Los Angeles for the photo shoot. Crazy? Right?
  • The Office aired its season finale this past week and it was a great episode in my mind. When Kevin was talking with Jim about creating a comparison list of who is hotter, Pam or Karen, I thought that was hilarious. I really can not wait for the next season to start to see how Michael reacts to Ryan Howard being his new boss. Did you guys watch the season finale?

I Roll with Brett

After hearing all this nonsense about Favre requesting a trade, I honestly think if he saw my draft post below, he would at least smile and think to himself, "he sure is." As a matter of fact, in the heat of passion, I may have also requested a trade (of course I did not mean it). It sounds like Brett had the same initial reaction to the draft that I had.

Possible nicknames for Ted Thompson:
-Terrible Ted
-Ted the Tool Thompson
-Pompous Thompson
-Big Jerk

Cover of SI (Favre with the Packer faithful in the background)
-Tommy can you hear me?

Replay

After tonight's big win in which Hardy and Prince both went yard, I wanted to replay some of the highlights of the season on the blog and to have this picture on the blog. One of the best plays of the year and definitely should be on the season highlight reel. I mean C'mon, baseball is a man's game, so I have no problem with Prince cussing these guys out. Doumit is such a D-Bag for his quote below. Where is the quote that calls him what he is for getting out of the way of the hit at home plate? Courtesy of the post gazette.

Fielder charged toward the plate as Nate McLouth's throw zipped toward catcher Ryan Doumit.

At the last instant, Doumit moved a foot toward the ball, and Fielder slid around the tag to score.

He immediately got to his feet and shouted toward Capps, who hit Fielder with an up-and-in pitch Saturday night.

"I didn't say anything," Fielder said, although replays showed he did -- and it wasn't "Thank you, Matt Capps!"

"I heard him," Capps said. "[Sure], he wants to talk about [Saturday night yesterday]."

"Pretty bush league," Doumit said of Fielder's reaction to scoring the run. "There's no room for that. To do that was bush league, in my opinion."

Devotion

I wonder how many people are going to get a finger up their butt for free Brewer tickets?

I am talking about people that wouldn't have anyway.

APRIL ALL-STARS

Things are skewed with not as many games to choose from, it's early, but here's a look.
Unbiased, not too many Brewers make the cut, and that's okay, this is a TEAM right now. It's really not too late for any starter (except 3B to make it but including the pitchers)
No rules to how I picked the 28, mostly just stats, didn't check if each team was represented but I think there's usually 30 or 32 players, so I could fill in the teams (I'm looking at you Nationals) that need representation that way. Maybe I will if I am bored later.

NL Starter/ Reserve(s) /Disappointments So far
1B Derek Lee /Adrian Gonzalez, Albert Pujols /Ryan Howard
2B Chase Utley / Kelly Johnson /Freddy Sanchez
3B Miguel Cabrera / Chipper Jones, Amaris Ramerez /David Wright
SS Jose Reyes / JJ HARDY, Jimmy Rollins /David Eckstein
OF Barry Bonds, Carlos Beltran, Jeff Francoeur / Matt Holliday, Jason Bay, Aaron Rowand/Jim Edmonds
C Russell Martin /Johnny ESTRADA / Paul Lo Duca
SP Tim Hudson/ John Maine, Rich Hill, Jake Peavy, Brandon Webb /Jeff Francis, Jason Schmidt
RP Francisco CORDERO/ Derrick TURNBOW, Takashi Saito, Armando Benitez /Brad Lidge

Thoughts???
I'll try again in May.
