Is it official?

Is Hockey not a major sport anymore? It's been awhile since it's been recognized by us. I don't know, I don't watch sportscenter at all, but coverage anywhere has pretty much disappeared.

Obviously this hasn't happened overnight, but it's great news.

Hockey is alive and well on the Versus network!! Also the home of Shark Hunter, Bull Riding and the Barbacue Championships Series.

"Presented by Kingsford Charcoal, this competitive bracket-series tournament features the world’s top BBQ chefs vying for $100,000 in prize money – the biggest in ‘cue history. The meats have been marinated; the cookers fired and stoked. Watch as the best pit men in the country line up ready to do battle, apron to apron. But before they can take home the prize, they must face the gamut of judges – the Taste Makers and Breakers – with a celebrity judge or two to spice things up. The torturous scrutiny begins this fall on Versus. Viewers will have an eye-opening experience as they witness survival in the BBQ pits."

First off, who is this adam guy. Is he the guy with the long hair who lived in the room next to us first semester 1997 that later was my roommate that later traveled to parts unknown, or just some random guy you know. If it is the first, big ups g.

Second, I did not even know hockey had started up again. I saw part of a Wisconsin game, but the last time I watched hockey was the Olympics.

Third, the international game is still a sport in my opinion based on the different rules and rink size that require the players to use actual skill and athleticism. This only occurs once every two years I think.

Finally, NHL ’94 was one of the greatest video games of all time.

With all that said, ice hockey may still be a world sport since it is popular in Europe (it has moved behind basketball), but I would have to agree, it is dead and no longer a major sport in the US.

On a side note, why is NBA tv free (or part of my digital sports package), and MLB and NFL not. Yesterday there was a Washington/Phonix game on. Does this signal the demise of that sport if they can't even low ball Time Warner?
