Lazy Days

If you have not already received my e-mail. In the past few weeks I was approached by two of my former supervisors about a position at M&I in their Corporate Accounting Department to be the lead stock option accountant. Since the position I was posting for had been open for three months and the employee I am replacing is retiring. I put a salary request that was pretty high, 20% increase from my current salary, and they gave it to me.

So I quit my job this past Monday and my boss told me they have this policy where people with access to sensitive information have to leave the company the day they announce. The company also has a policy that you must give two-weeks notice when you terminate your employment with the company. So, what ended up happening is I left the day I announced my resignation and the company has to pay me for two more weeks.

Ergo - I have a two-week paid vacation from an employer I no longer work for. I imagine this is Pelsi's dream to get paid for doing nothing!

That's a sweet deal, when we had layoffs a couple years ago, people got 2 months severance plus about 2 weeks of hanging out doing nothing but looking for new job on the company time.
